At the beginning of August we went to Farm Sanctuary with Reggie and Marlie. Farm Sanctuary is an animal shelter for farm animals located in Watkins Glen, NY. They rescue animals that are at the brink of death. Most of the animals led torturous, unspeakable lives. It is so sad that we, humans, who are supposed to be civilized, can treat animals the way we do. Farm Sanctuary is an incredible place that not only offers a safe place for the animals to live for the rest of their lives, but they also help enforce animal protection laws, and create better laws through legislation.
The four of us had a really great time visiting the animals. Not too many people have the opportunity to pet cows, pigs, and turkeys. The turkeys were so soft and extremely friendly. One of the pigs would snort if you pet her stomach. She rolled over on her back like a dog so we could have easier access. I really don't know how anybody can eat these beautiful animals.
